IAA Day 5: Sonia Blue

Indie Author Advent Day 5: Sonia Blue

Welcome to day 5 of the 2025 Indie Author Advent! This fun series will help us to get hyped for 2026 by celebrating some of the wonderful indie releases of 2025! Today I am interviewing Sonia Blue. Be sure to check out my Instagram for even more excitement with this event!

Sonia's 2025 Release

1. What is your favorite thing about your 2025 release?

"The way Rain and Mason fall in love. One of my favorite tropes is characters who don’t realize they’re in deep because they don’t believe in love or relationships. I enjoyed writing the slow build of confusion, how they didn’t understand their growing feelings. And that moment when everything finally clicks for them? When they admit to themselves and each other that they’re in love? It's the best.

I also enjoyed how they started at top speed, doing things people in a relationship would do, when Rain didn’t believe in all that love stuff and Mason had never considered it as an option. It was like their souls already knew and put them together until their brains caught up."

2. What are your inspirations for your book?

"I wanted to write a character who heals from CSA because I am a survivor myself, and I’ve known many strong people who I wanted to tell this story for. Sometimes, when people talk about their trauma, the outside judgement is “well, why didn’t you just leave?” and that always makes me angry whenever I hear it or see it online, because it's never that easy. And I wanted to show that with Rain and Mason, because while Rain is learning how to leave, Mason has already cut off his family but they’re still bullying him.

On a lighter note, I love BL manga/manhwa, and another of my favorite tropes is grouchy/grumpy/annoyed vs horny. Even though I deal with difficult topics in each of The Pointe of Love books, I like to balance it with lightness, and Rain constantly teasing a frowning-yet-flustered Mason? I couldn’t resist!"

3. Why do you think representation is so important in books?

"Because we all want to see ourselves in the media we consume. We want something or someone to relate to, to aspire to, and to give us hope. And sometimes, we find a book that we didn't know was about us until we read it, which is even more reason for representation."

4. Any advice for people who want to publish in 2026?

"Writing is a muscle that becomes stronger, faster, and easier to use with time, so if you can, try to write almost every day, (or every day if you don’t burn out easily.)

Last year, I wanted to stop having dry spells where my manuscript didn’t move at all, so I made a deal with myself – no zero days in 2025. Even when I felt burnt out, I still touched the manuscript and added a few words, so now it feels weird not to write, and that’s exactly where I want to be."

5. What are you most looking forward to in 2026? Any more releases on the horizon?

"I’m releasing Furious (The Pointe of Love Book 4) in early 2026, which is Jax and Tristan’s story, and it has chronic pain rep. And I have the final book in The Pointe of Love series coming after that. I love high-angst, and I promise that Book 5 will make you cry like Addicted did. But don’t worry, I always give my readers a super-happy ending."

6. Is there anything else you would like to add?

"I just did a rerelease of my 2017 erotica series, and you can get all three updated novelettes in a bundle for a spicy holiday season.

I also wanted to thank all the readers who yelled in my DMs about The Pointe of Love, and Obsessed in particular. You all truly mean a lot to me, and your capslock and love is what keeps me going.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to Harlow for doing this. Lifting up indie authors is wonderful thing and I appreciate you putting this advent calendar together!"

Outro

Thank you to Sonia for getting involved in this advent! I am excited to see what they come out with in 2026. Stay tuned tomorrow for another amazing indie author and their releases!
