Top 5 Tuesday: Modern Books I Think Will Become Classics
Welcome back to Top 5 Tuesday, now following the list from That Artsy Reader Girl! As always, I do a top 5 instead of a top 10 because I tend to struggle to find 10 books for prompts.
This week's prompt is..... modern books I think will become classics
These are in no particular order
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
- The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
- The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
- Becoming by Michelle Obama
I have a terrible radar for classics so these are all honestly shots in the dark. I have read The Hate U Give, which was a very important story. I absolutely adore Becoming so this one is honestly just aspirational. I feel like The Hunger Games is the only pick I am confident about. It is relevant enough to the zeitgeist for me to believe in it becoming a classic of today. Do you agree with my picks? Why or why not?
Here it all is in a pretty lil' graphic as always

In terms of personal updates, I can share that my Indie Author Advent is in the works and shaping up to be a lot of fun! I'm super excited for all it will offer in December!
The Hunger Games has been on so many lists this week!
ReplyDeleteIt really has! I think it speaks to its relevance to our culture and how prolific it really is.
DeleteI've seen The Hunger Games on lots of lists but I haven't read it myself!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine for this week: https://portobellobookblog.com/2025/11/18/top-ten-tuesday-18th-november-ten-books-which-might-be-classics-in-the-future-toptentuesday-amreading-bookrecommendations-tuesdaybookblog-booksky-%f0%9f%92%99%f0%9f%93%9a/
I have not actually read it either, but my fiancée has and enjoyed it. Maybe one day I will pick it up
DeleteWe share The Hunger Games on our lists. :) I saw that one a lot in my research as a possible future classic and I feel like The Night Circus could be one too! I saw that one EVERYWHERE when it released. Thanks so much for visiting my list today!
ReplyDeleteIn terms of The Night Circus, I feel like its tone is a lot of why I put it on my list honestly. I saw it frequently and it has the themes I feel like define the modern era's literature.
DeleteThe only one I have read is The Night Circus, but that was a very long time ago. The only thing I remember about it was that the black cover wasn't great in the sun - I was reading it on holiday 😂
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
From what I know of it (having never read it). It felt like it was popular enough that it could be one.
DeleteI hope your week is wonderful as well!
I have Becoming on my bookshelf to read. I've heard great things about it.

I agree with all of these!
ReplyDeleteWell you and I have two of the same books on our lists so if they're a shot in the dark then I'm at least with you 😝 I fully agree about your reasoning behind The Hunger Games! I loved The Night Circus, what a beautiful book. Here's my list: https://darkshelfofwonders.com/top-10-modern-books-that-could-be-future-classics/
