T10T: Romances with LGBTQ+ Representation

Welcome back to Top 10 Tuesday, following the list from That Artsy Reader Girl! This week is a genre-related freebie. As such, you'll not be surprised I'm picking LGBTQ+ romances

This week's prompt is..... romances with LGBTQ+ rep

These are in no particular order

  1. Cubby Season by Bindi Kennedy
  2. Hurt Me Not by Davidson King
  3. Playing for Keeps by Alexandria Bellefleur
  4. Hockey Girl Loves Drama Boy by Faith Erin Hicks
  5. My Roommate From Hell by Cale Dietrich
  6. Meant to Burn by Shae Ruby
  7. In Love's Key, Reprised by Guri Nojiro
  8. Kitty Season by Bindi Kennedy
  9. When Ivy Met Adam by Jennifer J. Coldwater
  10. Outdrawn by Deanna Grey
Absolutely none of you should be surprised that I decided to take a queer approach to this prompt if you've been around my blog for any significant about of time. I am here and proudly queer, and will absolutely champion books with LGBTQ+ rep whenever I can. I am also a big romance girlie, so here we are.

Here it all is in a pretty lil' graphic as always

Have you read any of these? I am so down for any kind of LGBTQ+ book recs if you have any! See you tomorrow for my gushing!

FFAF: In My Audiobook Era Tag

Intro

I have been an audiobook fan hardcore for the last few years. As such, this is the perfect challenge for me! I got the prompts from Alli the Book Giraffe whose list can be found here. Let's dive into it!

The Prompts and My Picks

The first audiobook I ever listened to: While I am not particularly confident about this, I think it might've been Impulse by Ellen Hopkins

My favorite narrators: I enjoy Emma Wilder, J.F. Harding, and Stella Hunter.

My preferred audiobook platforms: it is a whole lot of Libby, with some BookFunnel, and NetGalley for ARCs.

A book I enjoyed on audio that I might not have liked physically: My Roommate From Hell by Cale Dietrich

My go-to audiobook speed: I actually listen to almost everything at 3x speed. I know, I'm a heathen, but my ADHD likes it. My fiancée thinks I'm crazy for it.

I prefer multi-narration when available

I listen while multitasking for example, I am listening to an audiobook while I write out this blog. I also color, journal, and do things like laundry while listening to audiobooks. It's how I'm able to read so many books in a year.

My biggest audiobook pet peeve: all characters sound the same and it doesn't suit the characters at all. Also when someone mispronounces a bunch of words.

A book I'd love to make into an audiobook: Bunny Season by Bindi Kennedy

My all time favorite audiobook experience: Lights Out by Navessa Allen. The narration was so funny and immersive. I feel like the narrators truly added to the experience and had such perfect delivery.

Have I ever listened to an audiobook that made me pause and say "wait, what did I just hear?": Oh gosh, Just Pervs by Jess Taylor. That book was truly awful and completely grossed me out to hear in headphones.

Outro

This was a lot of fun! These prompts actually made me stop and think about my audiobook experience. Are you an audiobook lover?

T10T: Books I Liked, But Can't Remember

Welcome back to Top 10 Tuesday, following the list from That Artsy Reader Girl! This week I really don't have any books I would recommend for the original prompt (which I do not really understand in the first place...), so I am doing a backlist prompt.

This week's prompt is..... books I really liked, but can't remember much about

These are in no particular order

  1. Hook, Line, and Sinker by Tessa Bailey
  2. The Noh Family by Grace K. Shim
  3. Y'allywood Billionaire by Terra Weiss
  4. The Honeymoon Crashers by Christina Lauren
  5. Love in the Scottish Christmas Village by Beatrice Bradshaw
  6. Light Em' Up by Kelly Jamieson
  7. Trouble in Love by Bindi Kennedy
  8. The Wiener Across the Way by Amy Award
  9. Half-Light Harbor by Samantha Young
  10. Wild Love by Elsie Silver

No offense to any of these authors or books. I simply cannot remember everything. I do remember liking them and enjoying my time. Just please don't ask me to describe much about the plot

Here it all is in a pretty lil' graphic as always

Does this happen to you too? Please let me know I'm not alone. What's a favorite book you have forgotten? See you next week.

Top 5 Tuesday: Best Books I Read in 2025

Top 5 Tuesday: Best Books I Read in 2025

Welcome back to Top 5 Tuesday, now following the list from That Artsy Reader Girl! As always, I do a top 5 instead of a top 10 because I tend to struggle to find 10 books for prompts.

This week's prompt is..... best books I read in 2025

These are in no particular order

  1. One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune
  2. Bunny Season by Bindi Kennedy
  3. The Trouble with Love and Coaches by Harriet Ashford
  4. The First to Die at the End by Adam Silvera
  5. We All Fall Down by Erin FitzGerald

I took a break from these in December for my Indie Author Advent, which I really enjoyed. That said, I am very happy to be back to this fun little challenge. I had a lot of trouble picking my top 5 our of my 5-star reads so this is a smidge of a random pull from them. Just know there are a ton of honorable mentions I wish I could've included (which I could if I did top 10, but shhhhh, I do not normally have 10 picks for a prompt).

Here it all is in a pretty lil' graphic as always

Again so happy to be back to this. What were some of your top reads you think I should give a try? Here's to many fun lists in 2026!

Top 5 Tuesday: Authors I Am Thankful For

Top 5 Tuesday: Authors I Am Thankful For

Welcome back to Top 5 Tuesday, now following the list from That Artsy Reader Girl! As always, I do a top 5 instead of a top 10 because I tend to struggle to find 10 books for prompts.

This week's prompt is..... authors I am thankful for

These are in no particular order

  1. Harriet Ashford
  2. Erin FitzGerald
  3. Jennifer Lynn Barnes
  4. Bindi Kennedy
  5. Dani Galliaro

Happy Thanksgiving season to those who celebrate! While I am against the holiday in terms of its heavily falsified history, I do like that it encourages people practice gratitude. As such, I'm expressing gratitude for authors I love. Most of these are people I now consider friends. The only exception is Jennifer Lynn Barnes who I do not know personally. She is on this list because her books got me back into reading for fun in high school. If I hadn't picked up The Naturals my freshman year, I would probably not be writing this blog post right now.

Here it all is in a pretty lil' graphic as always

I am looking forward to all of the family time this time of year lends itself to. Crazy that the next time I do this list it will be December aka my birthday month! Does anyone have any fun ideas of what I could do for it?

Top 5 Tuesday: Villains

Top 5 Tuesday: Villains

Welcome back to Top 5 Tuesday, now following the list from That Artsy Reader Girl! As always, I do a top 5 instead of a top 10 because I tend to struggle to find 10 books for prompts.

This week's prompt is..... villains

It feels like spooky season is approaching with this prompt! It will honestly be a bit of a struggle to find characters for this prompt, as I do not tend to read books that include villains. Let's see what I find.

These are in no particular order

  1. Rocky from the Webs We Weave series by Krista and Becca Ritchie
  2. Troye from the Green Line Ice series by Bindi Kennedy
  3. Josie from Battle of the Bookstores by Ali Brady
  4. Charlie's right-hand man (sorry, I do not remember his name) from The Greatest of These by Erin FitzGerald
  5. Diana from We Did Nothing Wrong by Hannah Jayne

Alright, none of them are villains, but they all make mean choices. Rocky is definitely not actually a villain, but he does have very questionable morals and is a con artist. Troye is certainly not either, to be honest, but he does play a partially antagonist role in the books. Josie is just a jerk a number of times, so due to my personal dislike of her, she is on this list. The one character I cannot remember a name for is the most villainous... I'm just a romance girlie, okay?

Here it all is in a pretty lil' graphic 😁

Look at me, successfully completing another week! Truly exciting stuff! Yay me! I hope to see you again tomorrow for me gushing about another book I am excited for!

Free for All Friday: In My Audiobook Era Tag

Free for All Friday: In My Audiobook Era Tag

Intro

I am very much in my audiobook era lately. As such, this challenge is absolutely perfect for me right now! I cannot wait to gush about all of my favorite audiobooks with all of you lovelies!

I found this from Dini Panda Reads, so thank you for the inspiration!

As always, anyone who sees this and is interested is allowed to do this tag.

The Prompts

  • What is the first audiobook you ever listened to?
  • Who are your favorite narrators?
  • What audiobook platform do you use?
  • What book did you love on audio that you might not have enjoyed reading physically?
  • What is your go-to audiobook speed?
  • Do you prefer single or dual/multi-narration?
  • Do you listen while multitasking, or do you sit and listen like a movie?
  • What's your biggest audiobook pet peeve?
  • If you could have any book made into an audiobook, which one would it be?
  • What's your all-time favorite audiobook experience?
  • Have you ever listened to an audiobook that made you pause and say, "Wait... what did I just hear?!"

My Responses and Discussion

What is the first audiobook you ever listened to?

Becoming by Michelle Obama

This was the first audiobook I remember reading, and I must say it was a fantastic choice! It is narrated by her, and that adds oh so much value. Hearing her read her own life story was truly inspiring. I highly recommend it if you haven't read it already! It certainly opened up the world of audiobooks for me.

Who are your favorite narrators?

Jacob Morgan

Admittedly, I do not know many narrator names. It is something I want to work on. Jacob is one of the few ones I recognize, and I know I enjoy his intonation.

What audiobook platform do you use?

Libby, Bookfunnel, and occasionally Spotify

Libby is the platform I use the most by far. I love using my local library, and bonus points that it is free! It also allows good speed customization and scrolling, which I appreciate. Bookfunnel is usually how I get and listen to any ALCs (advanced listener copies) of audiobooks. It is always exciting when I get the chance to use them. Every once in a while, I use Spotify for audiobooks. I do enjoy the platform for listening, so perhaps I will use it more soon.

What book did you love on audio that you might not have enjoyed reading physically?

Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle

This book would be way too scary for me in any format other than audio. With audio, I am able to let the scary parts play very quickly, so it went by speedily. It makes sure I do not focus on my fear too much, but get to enjoy the whole narrative.

What is your go-to audiobook speed?

3x speed

Yes, really. I do, in fact, listen to almost all books that quickly. My ADHD works better when I can process words faster. Especially on low focus days, if I wanna read, it's gonna have to be a quick audiobook. My partner says it is my superpower, which I do not really deny.

Do you prefer single or dual/multi-narration?

Multi-narration

I enjoy multiple narrators because I feel it makes the experience feel a lot more immersive. Then you get the feeling of real dialogue and different accents as applicable. That said, I will never skip a book just because it has single narration.

Do you listen while multitasking, or do you sit and listen like a movie?

Multitasking

As mentioned before, my ADHD makes my listening needs and experience unique. As such, I often use audiobooks to make mundane tasks feel bearable. Things like laundry, grinding in video games, or even calming activities like coloring are made so much better with an audiobook for me. That said, there are times that I do just listen to the book if I have nothing else I need to be doing, or I feel like the book requires more attention to follow.

What's your biggest audiobook pet peeve?

Continuous mispronunciation

To be clear, I am not talking about different accents or dialects. I am talking about things like the "freesh ava ca do" meme. It does not happen often, but when it does, I cannot stand the book and have to turn it off.

If you could have any book made into an audiobook, which one would it be?

Bunny Season by Bindi Kennedy

I have mentioned this book countless times on my blog this year, but it is for good reason. It is an incredible story that absolutely needs more love. I highly enjoyed the story and think the banter and funny moments would transfer fantastically to audio.

What's your all-time favorite audiobook experience?

Lights Out by Navessa Allen

This was an incredibly tough choice to make for me, but I remember thinking the narration for this one was truly perfect! The tone and sarcasm at various moments translated so well and made me feel like I was really there with the characters.

Have you ever listened to an audiobook that made you pause and say, "Wait... what did I just hear?!"

Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs by Caitlin Doughty

I feel like the name says it all. It definitely had moments that were surprising, but I still quite enjoyed it for its informative nature. I've discussed this book many times on here, so I shall not rant more.

Outro

This challenge was a lot of fun! It has a nice variety of questions that really made me think. Are you an audiobook fan? I'd love to hear all about your favorites! See you next Friday for another something fun!

Free For All Friday: 2025 Reading Firsts

Free For All Friday: 2025 Reading Firsts

Describing the Tag

The 2025 Reading Firsts tag is all about discussing which book you read (or other milestone) first in various categories. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to look back at some of my earlier reads and reminisce. I saw A Knight's Reads do this and knew it would be perfect for me.

If you see this and feel like you wanna give it a try, consider yourself tagged!

The Prompts

  • First book read in 2025
  • First book reviewed in 2025
  • First debut novel read in 2025
  • First new-to-me author of 2025
  • First book that slayed me in 2025
  • First book of 2025 I wish I could get back the time I spent reading it

My Picks and Explanations

If any of these books fit multiple prompts, I would choose the next book to have all different reads

First book read
Don't You Cry by Mary Kubica

I had mixed feelings about this one. I had a lot of trouble keeping up with the different perspectives, which didn't help my experience. If you pick this one up, maybe try physical or digital because the audio didn't work out.

First book reviewed
Recommended Reading by Paul J. Coccia

My first review on my blog of the year! You can check it out here. Spoiler alert, I quite enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who likes LGBTQ+ YA stories.

First debut novel
Good Lookin' Cookin' by Dolly Parton and Rachel Parton George

This is a bit of a cop-out answer, as it is certainly not Dolly's first book. That said, it is Rachel's first book. Admittedly, I only listened to the audiobook, so I cannot speak to the recipes personally, but I am confident they are fantastic.

First new-to-me author
When Haru Was Here by Dustin Thao

The real answer is Mark Kubica, but as discussed earlier, I'm not repeating. Well, Dustin was my second and... I wish he weren't. I did not like this book very much. I haven't heard anything better about his other stories either. The cover art is by far the best part about his books.

First book that slayed me
Bunny Season by Bindi Kennedy

I wasn't entirely sure what this prompt meant, so I took it to mean my first 5-star read of the year. This book is incredible, and Bindi is an incredible human who deserves all of the love! If a hockey romcom is at all of interest to you, this is a must-read!

First book I regret reading
Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren

I normally enjoy the books by Christina Lauren, but unfortunately, this was not one of them. The miscommunication in it is so monstrously bad. The book would be significantly shorter if even a single productive conversation had happened.

Final Thoughts

Wowie, this was quite the adventure down memory lane. We had some highs and some lows. I liked this challenge and how simple it was. Have you read any of these? I'll see all of you again next Free For All Friday, where who knows what we will end up discussing. Fridays will always be my favorite blog day because I get to show the most of my personality in my posts.
