Any's Books
- Y’a d’la fierté dans l’air (she is one of the authors in this anthology)
The Interview
1. Are you LGBTQ+? If so, how?
"No, but love is love no matter who you are attracted to."
2. What books of yours have LGBTQ+ representation, and what rep do they have?
"Yes, I have one: Y’a d’la fierté dans l’air, an anthology in collaboration with Montreal Pride. In my story, Leila [fell] in love with a woman, and she is thinking about all the great moments they have together."
3. Why do you think LGBTQ+ rep in books is important?
"Yes, very important because most of [us] know at least one person who is part of this community and they are inspiring, plus it’s help[ful] to write stories that have never been [written] before. They should be represented just like heterosexual[s]. Every one of us is unique." (Quote modified to be grammatically correct, all changes are in brackets)
4. What got you into writing?
"I always love[d] creating stories, even when I was a little girl, and after I lost my grandma, I thought a lot about what I would really love to do in life, and it was the first thing that came [to] my mind. I wanted to be in touch with my artistic side, and I found out that it was the first thing I really enjoyed [doing] without feeling anxious." (Quote modified to be grammatically correct, all changes are in brackets)
5. Who is a queer figure you look up to?
"If I have to pick just one, I would say RuPaul. I love RuPaul’s Drag Race, especially the karaoke part, and I always [end] up laughing and forget about my problems after watching the show."
